HANI BIN URWA-E-MURADI
***************************
Hani
was martyred before Hazrat Muslim (A.S) in Koofa. Hani was a companion
of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W). He belonged to the tribe of Murad and lived
in Koofa. He took part in the battles of Jamal, Sifin and Nehrawan. He
played an important role in the movement of Hijr bin Adi against Ziad bin
Abih. When Ibne Ziad came as the ruler of Koofa, Muslim (A.S) in whose
favour thousands of people had made pledge, made Hani's house as his hideout.
As the ruler knew that Hani was an important personality in that movement,
he was captured, imprisoned and martyred. Hani was an important man with
a few thousand armed men under his command and was considered as a noble
man of Koofa Even Ibne Ziad respected him and once came to see him. But
when Hani provided refuge to Hazrat Muslim (A.S) and did not hand him to
Ibne Ziad, Ibne Ziad became furios. When Hani was brought in front of Ibne
Ziad, there was an exchange of hot words between them. Hani was taken to
the market where sheep were sold with his hands tied and was martyred there.
His murderer was Rasheed Turki who was a slave of Ibne Ziad. It was 8th
Zilhij 60 A.H. Hani was 83 or according to a source 90 years at that time.
At that time, the caravan of Imam Hussain (A.S) was on its way to Koofa.
The grave of Hani is at the back of the grave of Muslim (A.S) in Koofa.
